Acquired by Medford Bement Wilson probably by 1930, possibly in Paris, France {1} by inheritance to his daughter, Mrs. W. H. Stafford, Indianapolis, Indiana; {2} by inheritance to her daughter, Mrs. John Mead, Indianapolis; given to the John Herron Art Institute, now the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields, in 1955. {1} Label on back of canvas: "M.B.W.". {2} On tape on verso of painting: "Mrs. WH (illegible)fford."
